Johnny Marks CA(SA) is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) with more than 40 years of experience in accounting, finance, taxation, business management, and strategic financial leadership. After completing his schooling at Parktown Boys' High School in Johannesburg, Johnny studied at the University of the Witwatersrand, where he majored in Accounting and Economics. While pursuing his accounting degree on a part-time basis, he completed his articles at a medium-sized auditing firm and attended university lectures after work. Following the completion of his degree and two years of national service in the South African Defence Force, he successfully passed the SAICA Board Examination and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983. Throughout his career, Johnny has held senior financial management positions across a wide range of industries. He spent 11 years with the listed Tedelex Group as a Financial Accountant and Financial Manager before joining a group of companies operating concession stores on gold and platinum mines, where he spent a further 10 years in senior financial leadership. He later became part of the entrepreneurial team that helped establish what grew into the nationally recognized Sorbet brand, gaining valuable experience in business development and the challenges of a rapidly expanding enterprise. For the past 18 years, Johnny has operated his own accounting and taxation practice, advising individuals, entrepreneurs, trusts, and companies on accounting, taxation, financial reporting, business management, and strategic planning.
